Nova Solar has partnered with project:Homes. project:HOMES is a non-profit organization that helps to provide solar to the elderly and low-income residents. This helps to reduce the residents’ carbon footprint and annual energy costs. project:HOMES is making improvements to homes and apartments in seven cities and 18 counties in Virginia.
Our Environment Impact and Progress Towards Building a More Sustainable Future
Coal-fired power plants generate 37% of U.S. electricity. They are the single biggest air polluters in the U.S. Petroleum products account for approximately 31% of our energy needs and are the second largest contributor of pollutants on earth. Clean energy has protected the U.S. from 244,964,00 metric tons of CO2 emissions from fossil fuel power plants. According to SEIA solar energy saves as much carbon as 2 billion trees and has offset more than 110 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
Going solar is one of the most effective ways to protect the environment and reduce other harmful elements that cause health problems such as sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxide, and fine particulate matter. Solar reduces greenhouse gas emissions, and dependence on fossil fuels, and decreases your carbon footprint. On average those with solar cut their electricity cost from 20-100% depending upon their solar system.
