I waited seven months to have enough data for a meaningful review. Note: Rating scale of 1 to 10 with 1=abysmal to 10=outstanding), I selected Nova Solar. Even though they were not the least expensive quote, I determined they were the best value (used Aptos panels that put out 440kw vs. the fairly standard 380ish kw for others plus Enphase Q7+ inverters for each panel), local, most informative on the pre-sale without any pushy salesmanship. Pre-install. Overall 9. I was supposed to get the install Nov-Dec 22 but there was a significant delay in getting permits from Fairfax County (VA) as they “changed their system over” and “Lost Nova Solar’s application” for my project. The Nova Solar team did the best they could to push the county, but I am convinced that their surge they saw at the end of the year (to make the tax season on time) plus the County issue were compounding factors. In any case, I made a few calls myself to the county plus the Nova Solar calls, and the permit finally (and almost magically after the new year) arrived on Jan 23. This is the only very minor ding on the whole experience (and not wholly NS’s fault, to be clear) The rest of the process was through email with my assigned project manager, Jake very responsive to any communications throughout, with detailed, well thought out comments that were vert constructive to my understanding of project status. Install. Overall 10. The team was on time and finished installing 48 panels in one day. Great crew. Knew what they were doing and got right to it with no wasted time. I am handy, and they were very tolerant of my interest (thank you!) at the site. System performance Overall 10. Since installation 7 months ago, we have generated 12.3Mw-hrs. That is stunning. This is a grid system (no battery pack, but maybe later). My electric bills have been $7.03 per month since Feb 23. I still have credits stored up in the grid, even with the heavy HVAC and swimming pool use. This, plus the SRECs sold so far, make solar a really super investment (so far, and remember, I waited 7 months for this review for a reason). Post-install. Overall 10. NS filed all of the SREC paperwork on time and got the system registered. Be advised: it takes about 4 months before your SRECs register in the system and you actually sell one (which btw is automatic- with the proceeds going direct into your bank account. Magic). I have not had any system issues yet, so no way to judge NS responsiveness on that count, but I did email one time to comment on the system performance, and, of course, got an email, back from Jake the very next day. A good sign in any case! Nova Solar has earned my coveted “highly recommend” rating. There are plenty of choices out there and I am sure others could do a fine job, but I am certain that Nova Solar did an excellent job.
